Abnormal Pap Smear Management

About 10% of pap smears will return abnormal. There are a variety of causes for the abnormal reading. Low grade abnormalities can be confirmed by colposcopy (a microscopic examination and biopsy of the cervix) and treated by cryotherapy (freezing of the abnormal cells on the cervix). Dr. Gerdes is credentialed at the Trinity Clinic Whitehouse to perform these procedures.
