Dr. Gerdes grew up in Palos Hills, a southwest suburb of Chicago. She knew she wanted to go into medicine from an early age, wanting to combine her fascination with science and desire to help people improve their lives. She attended college at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, earning a B.S. in Communication Studies. Her medical school was completed at Loyola-Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, Illinois. As soon as she could, she moved south to complete her residency at the University of Texas at Tyler, where she was Chief Resident.
Dr. Gerdes decided to stay in Tyler, loving the people, family values and excellent weather. She has been proud to make the Trinity Clinic and Whitehouse her home. She enjoys taking care of all ages of patients, from newborn into the 90s and the wide variety of issues they bring to the office. She is particularly interested in women and children’s health and preventative care. She is serious about involvement in governance and political medicine, serving on the Trinity Clinic Board of Directors, and as an officer in the Texas Academy of Family Physicians.
Dr. Gerdes is married to Cory, a teacher, who is raising their three children, Regan, 9, Mackenzie, 4, and Riley, 1 year. In her spare time, Dr. Gerdes enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, scrap booking and decorating.
